I'm constantly shocked how many people I see sleeping, whether they're on the train or at my school. Especially at my school. People sleep in the library on top of the book they tried to read or they sleep in the one common area with hard "couches" that look like Noguchi sculptures. Do they not sleep at night? How overworked and stressed must they be to sleep so often?

I think I appreciated the journey of getting places on my one week trip in Japan because I take the train so often here but it feels like a pain and just a time sucker. Maybe I too often appreciate the process of getting something or to somewhere rather than the thing itself. Does that sum up the content-crazed culture we live in?
