The Japanese have proven to me, in multiple ways through varying disciplines, how any type of passion is worth living for. They devote themselves to the mastery of a technique and give themselves wholeheartedly to it.
What makes everyone follow rules here? Why aren’t there more people rebelling?
Offering a seat to someone on the train took way too long. I told them they could take it, they offered it back to me. Then someone else seemed interested and it was a back and forth game between that person and the person I originally offered it to. Someone finally sat down and the women sitting down next to that spot was comforting the newly seated individual that it was okay that it was her who was sitting.
